We aim to provide help as soon as you contact us, because we understand the emotional turmoil, desperation and courage involved when you or your family take that step to reach out for help. The admission process begins with a phone call, email, online chat or website enquiry. A clinical consultant will contact you immediately. An initial assessment (usually telephonic before admission) will identify the treatment needs of the person based on their personal history (emotional & physical), substance use (types, amount, duration and current intoxication status) and any other stressful or problematic issues they may be experiencing currently. Finances and medical aid cover will also be discussed.
Medical Aid Cover
Bethesda works with all major medical aid schemes in South Africa. No co-payment is required. We require your medical aid details before admission, so that we can obtain pre-authorisation from your medical aid.
- New clients will be collected from the airport or bus terminal (unless brought to Bethesda by a relative or friend).
- International clients flying in from abroad will be met & assisted at Johannesburg’s OR Tambo Airport by our Airport Meet & Greet Service. Particularly vulnerable clients will be met & escorted by our Clinical Director personally.
- A medical assessment will be made upon arrival at our treatment centre.
- If a medically supervised detox is deemed necessary, the possibility of hospitalisation may be addressed (additional funds/medical aid will be required for this, as established in the initial assessment). Our therapeutic team will remain in daily contact with the client throughout this process.
